A Championship Diary 2000/2001 Part One : Starting Out.
Patana 1 - BHB 3 ( 23rd Sept. 2000,Patana back pitch,16.00 k.o.) The return of 'Beer Singha' in goal and Nick Smart saw a full strength Brazillian line up take to the field. Early pressure from Pattana saw some fine saves from the acrobatic Singha as the BHB played disjointed football in all areas of the pitch. A well defended corner saw the yellow sweep down the field outpacing the errant Pattana defence and convert the opener thru Oat. Very hard to tell who was more suprised Pattana or BHB. With Nsmart and newbie Martin operating down the left Pattana were pinned back in their half for long periods which saw Poacher Smithy showing his hubcap stealing skills, nipping in for a loose ball 0-2 half time. After the restart Pattana got into gear and again dominated the opening stages. Masterly managerial skills from Breenie "Can we play football in their half for a while please!!" Saw the BHB midfield rise to the task and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Some football was played in the opposition's half and after a goal area melee Tam another debutante cooly turned ala Johann Cruff and slotted home. Pattana pulled one back, but it was too little too late and the points sewn up. Man of the match:Beer Singha for well, pick a save any save. Scorers:BHB Oat, Gavin Smith and Tam;don't know the fella from Pattana. - Junior

BHB 0 - German All Stars 0 (Sunday 1st Oct. 2000,Tobacco Monopoly,16.00 k.o.) No report for this game ,but from memory it was a gentlemanly contest with not many chances for GAS and a hatful sitters missed by the Yellows. This would set a trend often repeated this season.Little did we all know how important the return leg of this fixture would prove to be by the time May rolled around. Man of the Match : I can't remember,so it goes to Jon Haynes. Scorers : were not troubled today. - Will
BHB 2 - British Club Casuals 0. (Sunday 14th Oct. 2000,Colgate,16.00 k.o.) I can't remember too much about this one.Gav did steal in from right midfield and nick one at the end.You wouldn't guess he's a scally would you ? Oh yeah, and Breenie got his first of the campaign in this game. Man of the Match : Dunno,Gav do you want this one ? Scorers : Dave Breen,Gavin Smith - Will

Unocal 0 - BHB 6 (Thursday 2nd Nov. 2000,Ministry of Health,19.30 k.o.) Evening kick-offs - dontcha just love 'em ? Cool and floodlit,on a perfect surface this is just about as good as footy gets for me.So what happens ? At kick-off time we've got ten men and the fourth choice goalie will play.So I don't get to run around,I get to shout at people, make one save each half and spend the rest of my time dreaming up a solution to the Middle East crisis. It's still 0-0 when one of Unocals two sh*t-hot guys (#25 & #26) fires off a low shot to my right from fifteen.I fall over and fling out an arm, ball doesn't go in,someone releases 'Light-fingers'and he's down the other end burying it.Which he procedes to do another three times before half time ! Second half is a bit more mellow : Jon Haynes has settled in after his late arrival,'Martin the Teef' bags another to take his tally to five and Breenie gets his second of the campaign.Just time for another fall down / save and yours truly gets away with a clean sheet. Final Score : Unocal 0 BHB 6 (Martin x5,Dave Breen.) Man of the Match : Martin the Teef. - Will.

BHB 0 - MVI 0 (Sunday 12th Nov. 2000,Kesinee,13.30 k.o.) All these 0-0 draws seem to have bored me and Junior so much I don't have any reports. As far I remember this game is memorable for only two things : the might yellow defence keeping the prolific Simon Randall off the scoresheet and Dave Breen missing a penalty.Oh how he might come to regret that one when it comes to handing out this seasons 'Golden Flip-Flop'. Man of the Match : I can't remember ,so let's say Oat in goal with yet another clean sheet gets it. - Will
BHB 0 - TISC 0 (Sunday 19th Nov. 2000,Kesinee,13.30 k.o.) Another complete yawnfest.Did I mention that the average temperatures at Kesinee for 13.30 kick-offs were about forty-five degrees centigrade ( about two hundred degrees farenheit, perhaps even more ) ? Man of the Match:Big Kris for an outstanding performance in the photo to your right > - Will

Casuals Cup 1st Round ? Patana 3 - BHB 0 (26th Nov. 2000,Patana back pitch,14.00 k.o.) I thought I would tuck a quick mention of our early Cup exit down here where no-one will see it.Bloody awful performance and just the kick up the arse the team needed at this stage. Also allowed us to "concentrate on the League" as they say. Man of the Match:Nobody at all. - Will
